This course, part of a 5-course series filmed live at AIA Seattle’s 2025 Housing Forum, explores middle housing zoning and how architects, designers, policymakers and advocates can promote outcomes that balance density, affordability, equity and neighborhood character, especially in diverse lot types and urban contexts. Panelists discuss how Washington cities will be revising zoning codes to require a minimum density for middle housing on all residential lots, which promises to unlock needed room for housing, (re)legalize diverse types, and usher in more choices in areas historically reserved for low-density, high-cost real estate.
